Clearly one of "THE BEST" translations of the Quran, respecting the broad linguistic variations and the notion that the Quran must be understood in the time and environment it is read (not written). This translation is on the same level as 'The Study Quran' but, this one concentrates heavily on the linguistic nuances and differnet possibilities of translation of one and the same passages, where 'The Study Quran' is more focused on historical context. Both studied together can give an understanding of how difficult a translation of such a sensitive (politically and socially) text is.I can also not understand the bad rating of my pre-poster, there clearly is a misunderstanding of the topic, as this text is definitely directed to scholars, and can be confusing for those who are not familiar with scientific work.In my opinion this translation should be the standard, in all civilized languages - to avoid litterary misunderstandings and radicalist interpretation. All in all a great piece of scholar work, you shouldn't miss if you are working in a theologist scientific area.
Against my better judgement, I bought the book and read it too just out of curiousity.Well,this is a refrmist attempt to intentionally cover up,alter ,correct and remove the.... parts of the original book according to his understanding .Not a faithfull translatatin just deliberately and desparately distorting facts ,suggesting that one word shouldmean something else,cutting off the hand of a thieve should merely mean a small cut on the hand and beating the wifemeans apologetically touching her with a soft grass and So on and so forth.I shall not dare go any further with my comments.Suffice to say that I wish I could get a refund for my purchase.
